Morbius: Final Trailer Reaction

Posted on March 3, 2022March 3, 2022 by scenethatreviews
Final trailer for Morbius

Earlier this week the final trailer for Morbius dropped…to practically zero fanfare. I will be the first to admit that I know very little about the Marvel character Dr. Michael Morbius. The concept of the character though (a biochemist who cures his rare blood disease but was mutated into a vampire in the process) definitely grabbed my attention.
I have stayed away from previous trailers and from going back and reading any comics featuring Morbius. This way I’m able to enjoy the movie for what it is before I start comparing it to its source material.

While I may be in the minority, I am actually excited for this movie. A ”new” character gets the mainstream spotlight instead of getting another variation of the Avengers? Sign me up!

For better or for worse, Jared Leto gives his all in every role. I am curious to see what he does in a lead role as a superhero. We can see him as Michael Morbius both as a doctor and a vampire. He seems to take vampire form at night or in the shadows, as is consistent with vampire lore. But, we hear in the trailer that Morbius needs to embrace the fact that he is a bad guy. Why is he viewed as a villain?

We also see and hear from Michael Keaton in the trailer. His character name isn’t revealed on the film’s IMDB page, so we are left to wonder, who’s side is he on? What is his role? When he is speaking to Morbius, is he trying to help or harm him?

Without knowing much of the backstory to the character of Morbius, the trailer does a fantastic job of drawing you in without giving much of anything away. I am very much looking forward to seeing what Sony and Marvel have in store for us and how this will fit into the overall MCU. What about you? Are you looking forward to being able to say, ”I’ve Scene That!”?
