Pinocchio (2022)

Posted on June 1, 2022June 1, 2022 by scenethatreviews

It is time again for a trailer reaction. This time I take a look at the first teaser trailer for the latest live-action endeavor, Disney’s Pinocchio (directed by Robert Zemeckis).

The trailer opens with an exterior shot of Geppetto’s workshop and then the infamous wall of clocks on the interior. We see Geppetto hunched over his work area, catching a brief glimpse of his face. We then see Figaro laying down and stretching across a desk. Geppetto places his glasses on his desk and here is where we see Pinocchio for the first time, well, Pinocchio’s hand at least. We then see Geppetto wishing upon a star at his bedroom window. This is the first time we get an extended look at Tom Hanks as Geppetto. When they announced the casting, I was not really sure how I felt about him as Geppetto. However, while they didn’t really have to do much in terms of hair/makeup, it feels natural seeing Hanks on-screen as Geppetto. Plus, it is Tom Hanks, and who doesn’t love them some Tom Hanks?

After we see Geppetto wishing upon a star we see a highlight reel of what is to come. Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), Sofia the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco), The Coachman (Luke Evans), Honest John (Keegan-Michael Key) all can be seen.

I have not seen the live-action version of The Lion King but other than that I have enjoyed each live-action feature that Disney has given us. The casting and what we can see from the teaser here has me hooked. I am looking forward to what is in store for us here. Pinocchio will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ September 8th.

Are you ready for the live-action version of Pinocchio? What were your thoughts on the teaser trailer? What are your thoughts on the casting? Comment below or reach out on social media. Let me know if on September 9th you’ll be able to say, “I’ve Scene That!”.
