Hey there, thanks for dropping in! We’re kicking off the month of December with another installment in our Review Stew. Let’s see what happens when we put Con-Air on the water and turn the violence up to 11 with… Project Wolf Hunting (2022).
Title: Project Wolf Hunting
Director: Kim Hong-sun
Released: September 21, 2022 (South Korea)
Runtime: 2 hours 2 minutes
Available to stream on: Kanopy

An incident at an airport interferes with the transportation of some deadly prisoners.
The Korean Justice System pivots on the fly and has arranged for a cargo ship to transport the prisoners from the Philippines to Busan. Joining the prisoners on their journey will be a group of roughly 20 no-nonsense cops to make sure things don’t get out of hand.
Well, as you can imagine, once the prisoners realize there are more of them than there are the guards, they put a plan together to take control of the ship.
Though as the prisoners and cops begin a series of violent encounters, both sides begin to wonder if there isn’t a third party along for the mayhem…

If you feel like that was a very generic recap of a movie, well, you’re not wrong.
However, that’s pretty much all there is to Project Wolf Hunting (2022).
What starts out as Con-Air on a cargo ship quickly devolves into gratuitous violence for the sake of gratuitous violence.
There’s the idea of a story that can be used as a vehicle for the violence, but there’s nothing for the audience to invest in or care about. This goes for the cast too, there is no development with any of the characters as they remain painfully dull throughout.
That’s not to say that the entire runtime is boring though. In fact, some of the fight sequences are surprisingly both entertaining and funny.
I mean, who doesn’t want to see a guy be beat to death with his own arm?
However, if you’re going to clock-in at just over 2-hours long, I’m going to need a reason to want to stick around. Unfortunately, Project Wolf Hunting (2022) falls well short of meeting that requirement.
So, have you seen Project Wolf Hunting (2022)?
