Trailer Reaction: The Offer

Posted on February 3, 2022February 3, 2022 by scenethatreviews
The new limited series from Paramount+, The Offer, is set to give us an inside look at the struggles faced by producer Albert S. Ruddy while he was making The Godfather.

We see Miles Teller portraying producer Albert S. Ruddy, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, and Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo. The cast is rounded out with some heavy hitters including Juno Temple, Matthew Goode, Colin Hanks, and Patrick Gallo.

While some may be well-versed in the behind-the-scenes doings that took place during production of The Godfather, I am not one of those people. In order to avoid spoiling anything for myself, I am going to wait until after I’ve seen the series to dig into the backstory.

That being said, we should all give thanks to Paramount+. In a world of 4-minute trailers that give away far too many details, they gave us a 1min 10sec look at what is to come. So, what can we expect? Based on what we see, we are about to dive into a world within a world. There is the world of Hollywood and making motion pictures, and then there is the criminal underworld that doesn’t want to see The Godfather come to life on-screen. Who will get caught up in the mix? We hear Sinatra’s name mentioned, how far does his role in this go? What happens when these worlds combine? We’ll find out when The Offer debuts on Paramount+ April 28th.
